Bought a month ago, have not had a bad recipe from this book yet. Have had a few that we didn't rave over, but none so bad that we couldn't eat! Having to learn a new way of cooking for a newly diagnosed diabetic this cookbook has been a lifesaver for me. I would recommend this book for all new diabetics for the recipes and possible varaitions.

I am a dietitian who works in outpatient clinic settings. I also have type 1 diabetes. I saw an advertisement in Diabetic Living magazine for this book and was intrigued as it follows the diabetic Plate Method. A patient of mine ordered it upon my recommendation and brought it with her one visit. Wow! The meals in here are extremely appealing and relatively simple to make. Everyone who has looked at it (diabetic or not) says the same thing-that the meals look great, aren't too complicated and don't have unusual ingredients that you have to purchase especially for one or two recipes. It is so convenient that the nutrition analysis is given for both the complete meal and the individual recipes in the meal. If you or a relative or friend are struggling to find easy and appealing ideas to stay on track with your meal plan I highly recommend this book. It appears to appeal to a wide range of people.

This summer, my doctor said "we will need to address your rising blood sugar if it doesn't start going the other way." Wake up call, y'all! I'm 68 and have enough health issues without adding Type 2 Diabetes. The problem with most cookbooks geared toward healthy eating is that you get recipes but not meal ideas (i.e., how to put it all together). This is THE best cookbook I've owned in my nearly 50 years of cooking. Every meal is that, a MEAL. Photo for every meal, recipes for whatever's on that plate right there on the pages with the photo. This book allows me to actually SEE what my plate should look like in terms of portions, carbs, veggies and proteins. You can also mix and match foods from other recipes (my husband doesn't eat "greens"). And the recipes are awesome. No dull food here! I like lots of variety in my diet and this book delivers. Even if you're not concerned (yet) about controlling your blood sugar, buy this book and start learning to eat in a truly healthy way.

Very simple and attractive combinations....It chooses your food for you, balanced and portion control...If you dislike one item, it can always be changed out for another..I wish there were more books: One for breakfasts & one for lunch.

This has been a great book for me and I have many others. It really helps me visualize how my plate should look. I don't know why, but it makes a difference. Every recipe I have tried so far have been great. Only problem, does not have breakfast recipes. Would like to have a few. Other problem, but it's mine, is that there are so many seafood recipes and I don't eat seafood, but I'm sure they would be good too for those who do. Lots of pork recipes, which I can eat. And allows me to eat things I was told 20 years ago I shouldn't, like corn on the cob, yams, potatoes, eggs. I went to a diabetes class last night and mentioned I liked this book and almost everyone there took down the information. There are so many books available and not all are good. Think I will order another one for daughter. I need to say also, that I get most of my books from "other ones available" list and usually select "very good" and it saves a lot $$$ and most are just like new.

I. Love. This. Cookbook. I really didn't have high hopes for it, I was worried that food made with diabetic needs in mind wouldn't be appealing and that someone wouldn't be able to stay on the wagon, but this cookbook will turn the tide. With a few exceptions, the recipes are relatively easy to make. The best part - they are DELICIOUS! I've always loved veggies, but we've never been super disciplined otherwise. There are tasty and flavorful combinations. I've only found a couple that I don't like, but the vast majority of the recipes are a win!

We diabetics know what we should be eating, but the amounts can be a pain. Thank you for making it so easy to plan a meal to feed the whole family.

Excellent book. I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes on Monday. I ordered this book that day and it came on Wednesday. I've already made two of the dishes so far, and I will certainly be making more. The photographs are beautiful, and I like that carbs are listed for each component of the meal. Each meal is complete: a protein, a non-starchy vegetable and a starchy vegetable. Which is not saying you can't switch things around. I don't like sweet potatoes, so I note how many carbs that portion has, and page thru to find a starchy dish with a similar carb count.The book is separated by protein. That is, there is a section of chicken dishes, beef, turkey, pork, seafood, meatless. And some extras like beverages and desserts. Learning that I have a lifelong disease that is potentially fatal was scary. I am determined to turn things around and take charge of my health. This book can help me with that.

I purchased this book for my mother who is a Type 2 diabetic. My disclaimer: I am currently eating a fairly strict ketogenic diet and I would love to have my mother do it to; however, I think it would be too difficult for her at this time. I purchased this book because it claimed to be low carb and I thought it would be easier for her to handle.The pros:*Beautiful pictures*Recipes look pretty easy*Wide variety of mealsThe cons:*Most meals tend to be above 30 g of carbs (to me this is not low carb)*The book recommends low fat dressings and such - which usually have more carbs and sugars than the full fat itemsI think this might be a good start for my mother as if she followed this it would be better than what she is currently eating; however, I believe that the carbs/sugar count are still too high.
